A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT:--On Saturday last, [March 8, 1885] De Loy Stitzell, aged 29 years was run over by the cars at Dow Station, Wright county, and so badly injured that he died Sunday morning. He was a son of our fellow townsman Dr. Geo. Stitzell, and is well known to all here. The body was brought here on Monday and laid in the Nevada Cemetery [St. Patrick]. All extend the hand of sympathy to the bereaved family for the loss of so exemplary a son and brother. He stood very highly in the esteem of the Company, and of all those with whom he came in business and social contact, and arrangements had already been made for his promotion.
The accident was caused by the catching of a foot in a frog, and throwing him under the moving train, cutting off one leg, and wrenching the other from the socket.
