November 11, 1902 --- August 28, 1998

Harmka Olthoff, 95, of Webster City, died Friday, August 28, 1998 at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church east of Kamrar with Pastor John Wilson officiating. Burial was in the Presbyterian Cemetery next to the church. Foster Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.

Harmka Cordes, daughter of Anton and Jennie Koop Cordes, was born November 11, 1902 on a farm near Kamrar. She graduated from the Kamrar school and attended college in Cedar Falls. She taught rural school in Hamilton County for three years. On August 27, 1924 she married Louis Olthoff at Kamrar. The couple farmed in Hamilton, Wright and Humboldt Counties. The couple retired, living in Humboldt, moving to Webster City in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. She had resided at Crestview Manor.

She is survived by three daughters, Doris Fonken of Kamrar, Genavee Law of Duncombe, Letha Supple of Iowa City; one son, Lawrence Olthoff of Eagle Grove; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Vivian, one grandson, Vincent Lovelace, one granddaughter, Jean Law, two sisters, Hannah Olthoff and Florence Kennedy; two brothers, Ben and William Cordes, a cousin Esther Blair who resided with the family, three sons-in-law, Mervin Law, Lester Fonken and Jim Supple.
