September 5, 1908 - April 20, 1987

Lesslie E. Wilson, 78, 1325 Collins St., a longtime Hamilton County farmer, died Monday, April 20, 1987 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames. He had been hospitalized for five weeks. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 23 at the Foster Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Tuesday (today) until the time of service.

Lesslie Earl Wilson, son of Earl and Ethel Shields Wilson, was born Sept. 5, 1908 at Louisville, Ill. At the age of 7, he moved with his parents to Iowa. They farmed in the Williams area. He attended rural Hamilton County schools. On June 4, 1930, he married Zada Bessie Hanson at Webster City. The couple farmed in the Mulberry Center area for five years and then moved to a farm east of Webster City where they farmed for eight years. In 1945, the couple bought a farm north of Highview where they lived until 1973. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Webster City.

Survivors are his wife, Zada; one son and one daughter, Maynard of Woolstock, Joan (Mrs. Merlyn) Smid of Webster City; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Glen of Eagle Grove, Mildred Hoversten of Williams, Ruby (Mrs. Robert) Caudle and Edwin, both of Webster City. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Michael Lesslie Wilson.
