Kanawha Veteran Passes June 24

Kanawha-Christian Hegg was the son of Ole and Anna Hegg. He was born in Twin Lake township on December 26, 1894, so at the time of his death he was 59 years and six months old. Mr. Hegg passed away at the Belmond hospital on Wednesday, June 24.

He was baptized in and belonged to the Lutheran church.

He was a veteran of World War I and spent a year in the Army of Occupation in Germany, 1918-1919. Excepting for a few years when he lived at Clear Lake, he lived around Kanawha all his life.

Surviving are one sister, Olava, and two brothers, Nels of Kalispell, Mont. and Manvil of Kanawha. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at the Kanawha Lutheran church on Saturday, June 27, with Rev. Perry Sampson officiating. Burial was made in the Kanawha cemetery, veterans conducting military rites at the grave.
