Eilert R. Friesth, son of Rasmus and Pernall Friesth, was born January 20, 1849, in Stavanger, Norway. He received instruction in the school and church of that city. In 1870 he immigrated to America and settled on a forty acre farm in Livingstone county, Illinois. He moved to Webster county, Iowa, in 1885, and to Dakota City in 1909 and later to Humboldt. In 1877 he married Melinda Larson and to them were born nine children, namely Mrs. Nels Warland, Lars, and Gustav Friesth residing in Webster county; Rasmus, Eilert, Mrs. Ole Soppeland, and Mrs. S. T. Sampson in Humboldt county. They and their aged mother, twenty-nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mesdames Martha Larson and Marie Olson Tastad of Stavanger, Norway, mourn the departed husband, father, and brother. One son and one daughter preceded him by death. The deceased held membership in the Lutheran congregations at Pontiac, IL and at Badger, Iowa, until he in 1909 joined the Lutheran congregation at Humboldt. He was also a charter member of the local Lutheran brotherhood, and had been an official in these organizations. Mr Friesth departed from us on November 11, 1932, at the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twenty-two days. On November 15, funeral service was conducted in the local Lutheran church, where a sermon on Revelation 7:13-15 was preached. Pastors H. O. Hendrickson, J. J. Lee, B. A. Olson, and T. B. Thorson were in attendance. Special singing was rendered by Mrs. Ray Wogen, the male quartet and Mesdames Amos Anderson, and C. J. Torkelson. Memorial gifts were given various charitable institutions. Interment was made in the Hovey Cemetery ten miles south of Humboldt, in the afternoon of November 15, 1932.

And all who believe, He will surely deliver;
His truth standeth fast, and faileth us never;
His mercy endureth for ever and ever"
