Cheryl Marie (Friesth) Pontius

December 24, 1943 -- August 19, 2008

Cheryl Pontius, 64, of Fort Dodge passed away in her home on August 19, 2008. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday August 23, 2008 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge with burial following at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City. The visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Cheryl was born in Humboldt on December 24, 1943 to Elmer and Nellie Friesth. She loved spending time with her family and making journals and scrap booking about her grandchildren and their lives. Cheryl enjoyed making crafts, genealogy, gardening, canning and relaxing at the lakes. Cheryl is survived by her husband James; three sons, Larry Pontius of Waterloo, IA, Gary (Denise) Pontius of Woodbury, MN, and Michael Pontius of Fort Dodge; two grandchildren Christopher and David Pontius; siblings, Dave (Glenda) Friesth of Tempe, AZ, Bernice Friesth of Sac City, IA, and Gene (Dorothy) Friesth of Fort Dodge, and several nieces and nephews. Cheryl is preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Nellie Friesth and her brother, Gerald Friesth.
