November 28, 1858 --- January 9, 1884
Died at her home in Wright county, Iowa, January 9, 1884, Mrs. Emma Aldrich, formerly of Newton Township, Buchanan County, Iowa and eldest daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. James Brewer at that township. Emma was married 4 years ago and the future was bright with the promise of a long and happy life for her. One year ago she buried her only child a little girl, May, that came as a sunbeam to make life more cheerful. Her sickness (congestion of the lungs) was of short duration; on Tuesday morning, January 8th, she ate her breakfast at the table, and died the next night. Her parents who had been summoned, reached her bedside a few hours after her spirit had departed. Her remains were brought back and deposited in the Newton Cemetery. She leaves her husband and parents, besides numerous friends, to mourn her loss. Truly, death is not respecter of persons. One by one he plucks the brightest of earth's flowers to beautify the realms of the blest.
