OTTUMWA, IA — Gail F. Parrish, 96, of Ottumwa, died at 8:20 a.m. Dec. 17, 2010, at Vista Woods Care Center. She was born March 14, 1914, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Lyman Wayne and Mabel Cox Griffin Middleton. She married Richard F. Parrish Sept. 4, 1939, in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 7, 2004. A graduate of the University of Iowa, she had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1939. She was a member of St. Mary of the Visitation.

Surviving are a son, Dennis (Beverly) Parrish of Ottumwa; two daughters, Lucinda (Daniel) Thompson of Draper, Utah, and Mary (Charles) Decker of Indianapolis, Ind.; two daughters-in-law, Sue Parrish and Leslie Fattig; 10 grandchildren, Chris Parrish, Tim Parrish, Sarah Hamilton, Amy McKenzie, John Thompson, Lee Whitley, Jennifer Hedge, Katherine Decker, John Parrish and Andrew Parrish; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Parrish and John Parrish; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Parrish; a brother, Lyman Middleton; and two sisters, Jean Wittman and Doris Hill.

Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary of the Visitation with Father Bernie Weir presiding. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be at 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Visitation or Iowa Hospice.
