In 1884 when he was 9 years of age, he came to America with his mother, brothers and sisters, locating in Wall Lake Township, Wright County, Iowa, where he attended the county schools and grew to manhood in that community. He received the Christian baptism in infancy, in France, in the French Lutheran faith. On December 7, 1898 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Kastler, at Webster City, and lived on a farm east of Woolstock, until in 1915 when they moved into Woolstock, where Mr. Mourlam engaged in business in a general merchandise store. During his residence in Woolstock, he was active in various community affairs, being a member of the town council for many years. He was a member of Eagle Grove Bower Lodge AF and AM, also of the Chaper and Council of the Masonic Order.

Mr. Mourlam is now survived by his wife Emma and one sister, Mrs. Emma Hauman, and by many nieces and nephews, also other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, six sisters and six brothers. His father, four sisters and two brothers passed away in France. In the past few years he has had very few interests except his home and friends, and among these he will be sorely missed.
