CHPPEWA FALLS, Wis. — Dale E. Gourley, 79, of 4892 110th St., Chippewa Falls, Wis., died Saturday (Dec. 31, 2005) at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, Wis. He was born on Feb. 14, 1926, in Corwith, Iowa, the son of Rose L. (Denzel) and Seth D. Gourley. Dale joined the U. S. Navy in 1944, and he served in China. He retired from the Navy in 1964 after 20 years of service. He then owned and operated the Sunbeam Tavern in Chippewa Falls until retiring in 1983 due to ill health. Dale married Lorraine Sippel Goercke on March 6, 1972, at Hallie United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine; two stepdaughters, Brenda Goercke, Karen (Dan) Bushland all of Chippewa Falls; one stepson, Kenneth (Cindy) Goercke of Golden Valley, Minn.; one sister, LaVonne (Marvin) Rinnels, of Mason City; a sister-in-law, Jennie Gourley, of Mason City; one brother, James Gourley, of Mason City; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thomas Gourley; and one sister, Beverly Kalvig.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hallie United Methodist Church, Chippewa Falls, Wis. Spring interment will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Village of Lake Hallie. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Pederson-Volker Funeral Chapel in Chippewa Falls and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
