Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Arlie J. Harstad, age 64, of St. Cloud who passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at the St. Cloud Veteran Affairs Medical Center. Reverend Scott Gjevre will officiate. Burial will take place on December 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN with Military Honors. Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud. The Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428 will have their ritual at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Arlie was born on May 27, 1946 in Belmond, Iowa to Felix and Helen (Sudyko) Harstad. He served 3 years in the United States Army. Arlie worked as a bartender and some construction jobs throughout his life. He lived in the St. Cloud area most of his life belonging to the Waite Park American Legion Silver Star Post #428. Arlie was an avid sports fan. He especially enjoyed the Minnesota Twins and the Dallas Cowboys. Arlie loved the time spent with his family.

He is survived by his son, John of St. Paul; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; mother, Helen of St. Cloud; brother and sisters, John (Shelley) of Woodbury, Sharon of St. Cloud, Delores (Larry) of Alexandria, Marlys (Allan) of Colfax, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. Arlie is preceded in death by his father, Felix. A Special Thank You to the staff at the St. Cloud V.A.M.C. building 50 for the special care they provided to Arlie.
