EAGLE GROVE, IA - Dorothy Jean Middleton died Thursday afternoon, November 11, 2010, at the age of 96 at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home, Eagle Grove. She was born May 2, 1914 at her home in Eagle Grove. She lived most of her life in Eagle Grove, except for four years at Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, which her father Guy Hinkley founded with Clarence Tompkins, minister at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, at that time. Dorothy was a life long member of the church, being its oldest member. She enjoyed music - playing the piano by ear and singing for many funerals at her church. Dorothy graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1932. She married Burdette Middleton in 1933. She was a member of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Beta Sigma Phi, the United Methodist Church and Rebecca Circle.

She is survived by her sons James and wife Diane, Eagle Grove, and John and wife Marilyn, Webster City; three grandchildren - Troy, Clark and Joy Middleton; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Olive Hinkley; her husband Burdette in 1980; her twin brother David in 1984; her sister Lucille Johnson and infant brother Burton.

Her body was cremated. Visitation will be Friday, November 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and a celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 20 at 10:30 a.m. all at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove.
