CORYDON, IA - Lawrence (Bud) Henry Polsdofer, 83, of Corydon, passed away Friday, Nov. 5, 2010, at the Wayne County Hospital, Corydon, Iowa. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at Randolph Funeral Home, Corydon, Iowa. Lawrence (Bud) Henry Polsdofer was born on Jan. 24, 1927, on a farm south of Swaledale, Iowa, to Arthur and Ella (Trana) Polsdofer. Bud was united in marriage to Colleen Maxine Farman on April 6, 1952, in Corydon, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Roger and Celeste. Bud attended the United Methodist Church, Corydon, for several years. Bud attended rural schools and finished going to high school at Klemme, Iowa. He spent his whole childhood growing up in the Mason City area. He was the fifth child of 13 and he was the oldest son. Bud spent much of his childhood helping his dad farming. For several years Bud helped on various farms and drove truck-hauling livestock. Bud traveled to southern Iowa to visit his sister who was living in the Lineville area. Bud decided to stay in the area, working for various farmers. He worked for Colonel Meacham for three and half years at the Ford tractor dealership, where Hy-Vee and Great Western Bank are now located. Bud was then employed by the Wayne County secondary road department. At first he was on the bridge-culvert crew and then worked in various other departments. For the last several years he ran a maintainer, which included hours of plowing show and hauling rock. After working all day for the county, Bud would come home, set his dinner bucket down and then go back out to Phil Evitt's farm and work as a farmer, which he truly loved. In 1992 he retired from the county. Bud then worked part-time for his son, Roger, hauling milk. Bud greatly enjoyed talking to the farmers on the milk route. Due to health reasons, Bud finally had to quit driving the milk truck. He enjoyed several more years of retirement with his wife, Colleen. Due to declining health, Bud moved to the Corydon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Dec. 31, 2009, where he resided until his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, by sisters Marian, Mayvis, Avis, Leona, Elda, Neva and Sharie, brothers-in-law Art Hanson, Glen Bier, Bob Hiscocks and Virgil Rice, and one grandson, Kyle Polsdofer. He is survived by his wife, Colleen; son Roger and wife Linda, Corydon; daughter Celeste Clark and husband Jimmy, Seymour; grandchildren Jody Clark and friend Eric, Overland Park, Kan., Ryan Polsdofer, Corydon, Joe Clark and wife Teresa, Centerville, and Tyson Polsdofer and wife Elizabeth, Allerton; great-grandchildren Cody and Emily Polsdofer, Allerton. He is also survived by sisters and brothers, Agnes Rice, Cresco, Ardes Bier, Clear Lake, Duane and wife Jo Polsdofer, Rockwell, Dorothy Hiscocks, Britt, and Ed and wife Ethel Polsdofer, Saline, Mich., and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
