Kathey R. Allen, 59, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 2nd at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Rev. Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial will be in Colfax Township Cemetery, Vincent. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Friday at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.

Surviving is her husband, Dan of Fort Dodge; daughters, Lisa Allen of Fort Dodge, Cari Jones of Des Moines; grandchildren, Jesse Grazier, Dalton, Emmy and Tarrah Holdredge; mother, Elverna Askeland of Fort Dodge; brother, Gary Askeland of Norman, OK. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer Askeland in 2005.

Kathey R. Askeland was born July 17, 1951 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended schools in Fort Dodge, graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1969 and continued her education for the next 2 years at Iowa Central Community College. She was united in marriage on March 13, 1971 to Daniel Allen at St Paul Lutheran Church and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Kathey was employed in secretarial and clerical work at Land O' Lakes and various Insurance Agencies throughout the community and at the time of her illness, she was employed with the Fort Dodge Oral Surgeons at Trinity Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening, golf (was a member of the hole in one club), spending time with her grandchildren, winter vacationing, and listening to Jimmy Buffet. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
