February 20, 1903 -- September 28, 1994

Gladys M. Gisel, 91, of Ventura, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1994, at the Concord Care Center, Garner, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 1, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura, with the Rev. Daird Korth officiating. Interment was in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa.

Gladys was born Feb. 20, 1903 in Maquoketa, Iowa, the daughter of John Garretson and Ada Mayberry Garretson. She graduated from Maquoketa High School with a Normal Training degree. She taught rural school in Jackson County. She married Robert Gisel on Nov. 11, 1925 in Maquoketa. They owned and operated Gisel Hardware in Andrew, Iowa, from 1925-1943. They moved to Ventura in 1943, where they opened the Gisel Hardware Store.

She is survived by her son Willard Gisel and his wife, Gladys, Ventura; one grandson Jeff Gisel and his wife, Karen, a granddaughter-in-law Capt. Donna Rezendes, Okinawa, Japan; five great-grandchildren Jeffrey Gisel, Andrew Gisel, Tiffany Gisel, Jennifer Gisel and Stephanie Gisel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1965; one brother Kenneth Garretson; and one grandson Steven Gisel.

Pallbearers were Scott Ollenburg, Curtis Christensen, Ronald Knop, Robert Wolfram, Leroy Ziesmer, Keith Ransom. Gladys loved to play bridge. She was a charter member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ventura.
