Elaine Hawley - age 80, passed away on October 5, 2010, at the Spencer Hospital.

Alma Elaine Andersen was born on March 1, 1930, at Clarion. She was the daughter of Anton and Margaret (Murray) Andersen. Elaine was educated in Clarion and graduated from Clarion high School. After she completed her education, she worked at General Mills in Minneapolis, MN. On February 10, 1951, Elaine married Robert C. Hawley at Holmes, Iowa. The couple settled at Laurens where Elaine was very active in the operation of their farm. Robert passed away on January 12, 1997, and Elaine has continued to make her home in Laurens. Elaine is a member of the United Methodist Church. She was very much a “Farm Wife”, helping in all aspects of the farm operation. In her spare time, Elaine enjoyed baking chocolate chip cookies, playing cards, doing puzzles and spending time with her family and many friends.

Survivors include her children: Steve (Lynn) Hawley of Kingsville, MO, Mark Hawley of Laurens and Diane (Robert) Fuchs of Laurens; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; sister: Marge Harrigan of Kanawha and brother, Al (Maurine) Andersen of Hampton. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert, sister, Norma and brothers Orville and Tony.

Funeral: Saturday October 9, 2010, 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, Laurens, IA

Visitation: Friday October 8, 2010, 5 - 7 PM at Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home, Laurens, Iowa

Fort Dodge Messenger, Iowa

LAURENS, IA - Elaine Hawley, age 80, of Laurens, passed away on Oct. 5, at the Spencer Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, October 9, at the United Methodist Church in Laurens with Rev. Tim Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Laurens Cemetery at Laurens. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at the Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home in Laurens.
