RENWICK, IA - Funeral Services for Vernon Kamp, 69 of Renwick will be held Monday October 11, 2010 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Renwick, the Reverend Lynn Noel presiding. The Mason Lindhart Funeral of Humboldt is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Sunday October 10 at the Mason Lindhart Funeral Home.
Vernon A. Kamp was born April 15, 1941 to Henry and Connie (Jacobson) Kamp in on a farm near Renwick. He attended school in Renwick and graduated from Boone Valley High School in 1959. He played football in high school and was known as "Moose". He then worked at the Pioneer Cheese factory in Renwick and later for Renwick Farmers Co-op, now Gold Eagle Co-op where customers called him "Kampy". On February 14, 1965 he married Kathy Nerem at St. Paul's Church. They resided in Renwick their 40 years of marriage. He retired from Gold Eagle shortly after Kathy's death in 2005. Vernon was an avid gun collector, shooter and firearms enthusiast. He competed in trap shooting with the Isaac Walton League up to just before his death. He enjoyed yard work, motorcycles, and western movies. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren and cherished the memory of his wife.
Surviving Vernon are his children Blaine (Carla) Kamp of Gowrie, Eric (Elizabeth ) Kamp of Grimes, and Erin Kamp (Kevin Troxel) of Grimes; grandchildren Evan Kamp, Noah Kamp, Cody Kamp, Colton Kamp, Chase Kamp, Thomas Kamp, and Kelly Troxel; brother Marvin Kamp of Humboldt, and sister Joan Baldwin of Des Moines He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Kathy, and sisters Henrietta Ayres and Barb Faltinson.
