David Lee Hankins, 64, of Aiea, Hawaii, passed away Tuesday January 11th, 2005 at his home. David Lee Hankins, the son of Harvey H. Hankins and Marguerite Meyer Hankins, was born August 1st, 1940, at Mason City, IA. He grew up in Corwith, IA. Following School he served with the Army for 3 years. Following his discharge, he returned to Algona, IA where he went to work for Wibben Construction. Dave eventually took over the business and named it Hankins Construction. While in business Dave started the Woodlyn Hills and South Oak Estates housing developments. Later in life he moved to California and worked there for several years before being transferred to Hawaii and stayed there until his death.

David was united in marriage with Jane Carol Wibben in 1957, at Algona, IA. The couple lived in Germany for 2 ½ years after being married and then returned to the U.S. and resided in Algona, IA. Survivors include Jane Hankins; a son, Kurt Hankins and his wife Lynette of Algona, IA; three daughters Dawn Hankins, Greenwich, Conn; Rene Schulz and her husband Eric Schulz, Whittemore, IA; and Tami Hankins of Algona, IA; four grandchildren, Tiffany & Zachary Hankins; Heather & Adam Schulz; one great-grandchild, Summer Green, and one brother Verle D. Hankins of Lake Havasu, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Roland Hankins, one sister Sharon Hankins. Dave was an active member of the Joy of Christ Lutheran Church and of the Sunflower Group, in Hawaii.
