Vera Mae Wegner was born March 28, 1914, in LuVerne, Iowa, the daughter of Arnold and Mary (Petersen) Wegner. Vera was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in LuVerne. She was baptized, confirmed and married there. Vera was always very active in church, and was a member of the Mission Mites. She was a Godparent to Sharon Miller, Becky Tobey, Debbi Varney and Kirk Nielson. Vera grew up in the LuVerne area. After graduating from LuVerne High School, she worked for Northwestern Bell Telephone, as a telephone operator for three years. She was united in marriage to Frederick Will on December 22, 1934. The couple farmed in the Corwith and LuVerne areas their entire lives. In these communities, she was a long time member of the Thursday Club and the LuVerne Good Will Club. She lived on their century farm for 47 years before moving to LuVerne for nine years. Vera later became a resident of the Westview Care Center and the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt where she passed away on July 23, 2007, at the age of 93.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Roger and Connie Will of Forest City, IA, and their children Wendy (John) Hartley, Denise (David) Nickerson and Darin Will; Michael and Barbara Will of Atlanta, GA, and their children, Chad (Lee Ann) Will, Jodie (Brian) Zwerner and Amy (Hardy) Brumfield; Mary and Steve Aagard of Forest City, IA, and their children Kathy (John) Kirschbaum and Jason (Michele) Aagard. Also surviving are 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frederick, on September 26, 1981; four sisters, Helen Nielson, Geneva Osterloh, Burnell Dawson and infant sister, Mary Joyce Wegner.
