DODGE CENTER, MN — The funeral service for Flossie Mae Gerths will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010, at the First Congregational Church UCC, 12 2nd St. in Dodge Center, with Rev. Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.

Flossie Mae Gerths, 95, of Inver Grove Heights, and formerly of Dodge Center, died [September 6, 2010] at White Pines Senior Residence in Inver Grover Heights. Flossie Mae Checkel was born on May 31, 1915, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Rose (Prusha) Checkel in Dows, Iowa. Flossie was united in marriage to Earle J. Gerths on Feb. 15, 1932, in Dodge Center. After the couple's marriage they farmed in the Dodge Center area. Later they moved to Hastings, where they lived for 26 years, and Flossie was a cook at the Hastings Public Schools for 20 years. After her husband's retirement they moved back to Dodge Center and resided for a few years, moved to Colorado, then returned to Minnesota in 1997. Flossie enjoyed fishing, gardening, and cross stitching, and was an avid Gophers, Twins and Vikings fan.

Flossie is survived by three sons, Jim (Marla) Gerths of Owatonna, Everett "Moe" Gerths of Panama City, Fla., and Gregory (Carrie) Gerths of Inver Grove Heights; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earle Gerths; and two sisters, Joey Murphy and Sylvia Peck.

Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 110 W. Main St. in Dodge Center, is in charge of arrangements. The family suggests memorials to the First Congregational Church UCC. Blessed be her memory.
