Barney P. Scott was born at Ellisburg, N. Y. June 1, 1837 and died March 17, 1899 at Goldfield, IA. Age 61 years, 9 months, and 21 days. His last sickness, which finally caused his death, lasted thirteen days. His suffering was severe, yet born with continued patience. He was married to Thankful Cordelia Heart [should be Hart], July 4th 1857. They moved from New York to Fondulac Wis. the same year. To them was born two sons and two daughters [actually three sons]. One son and two daughters still survive him. From Wisconsin they came to Dubuque, IA. and lived a short time then removed to Waverly and lived in the vicinity of Waverly about 17 years. His wife died in Waverly in December 1786. [actually 1876]. He afterwards married Brohelia F. Smith at Horton Iowa. To them was born two daughters. [four daughters] The youngest still survives. His wife died March 8, 1890 at Horton, Iowa. Sometime later he married Minnie Littlefield at Bellville NY A daughter was born to them. He was engaged in farming until 1885 when he bought the creamery at Greene. He has since owned and operated creameries in Horton, Logan, and Goldfield, Iowa, being very successful in business. He was ever honest and true and by his numerous kind acts made many friends.
Funeral services were held at his residence Sunday at 2:30 by Rev. Pearson of the Baptist church. That evening the friends left on the Burlington with the remains for Waverly, Mr. Scott's former home where the final funeral service and interment took place Wednesday.
