Ezra J. Petersen, 82, of Fort Dodge, passed away August 19, 2010. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday August 23 at Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt with the Rev. Matthew Manz officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mr. Petersen is survived by his daughter, Kay Baessler of Orange Park, Florida; Step-daughter Sharyon Skaare (Gerald) of Blue Earth, Minnesota and brother, Carol Petersen of Roseville, California; two grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and seven step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; infant son Jerry Lee; brother, LeRoy Petersen and sister Leona Freed.

Ezra Petersen the son of Christian and Mabel Petersen was born Jan, 14, 1928 in Callender. He attended school in Burnside and then entered the service and served with the 5th air force from 1946 till 1949. He was united in marriage to Virgina Freed and to this union two children were born. On Sept. 25th 1957 he was united in marriage to Joyce Johnson and they lived and farmed near Hardy. His wife, Joyce, died in June 1990 and he continued to live on the farm until his retirement. Ezra was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church and was active in the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family and he especially enjoyed harvest time.
