Charles Christian Sorensen was born on December 9, 1916, at Corwith, Iowa, to Emil and Meta (Madsen) Sorensen. Chuck graduated from Corwith High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Ames, specifically in the Ag program. On August 26, 1938, Chuck was united in marriage to Virginia Ramus in Des Moines, Iowa. The couple farmed near Wesley for one year and then moved to the family farm southwest of Corwith and have lived there since 1943. Chuck farmed the family farm until 2007, when he retired from farming. He remained on the farm until he became a resident of the Algona Manor Care Center in Algona in 2008. Chuck passed away quietly on Wednesday April 28, 2010, at the age of 93. Chuck was a longtime member of the United Methodist Church in Corwith, enjoyed hunting, fishing, owning and flying a private plane in the 40’s, golfing, playing cards, and spending time at his cottage in Minnesota.

Survivors include his son Tim and wife Rene of Algona; former son-in-law, Ron Hughes and wife Meg of Kanawha, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Virginia, daughter Charlene, two nephews Jim and Larry Thorn as well as his brother Marion Sorensen of Clear Lake and his sister Ethel Hartin of Clear Lake.
