March 18, 1912 -- April 18, 1997

Frances E. Palmer, 85, a resident of Manor Care, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion and Webb, died of pneumonia Friday, April 18, 1997, in St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services: 10 a.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Stan Wierson. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion.

Surviving are two daughters, Connie Bennett and husband Charles of Marion, and Cathie Beach-Elsbree and husband C. Allen of Aurora, Ill.; a brother, retired Sen. John O. Stull and wife Babbie of Harteville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Thomas Bennett and wife Marsha of Granbury, Texas, Susan Bennett of Marion and Paige Beach of Falls Church, Va.; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Bennett. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son-in-law, Miles D. Beach Jr.

She was born the daughter of Dr. Claude and Mabel Stilson Stull on March 18, 1912, in Corwith. She attended Cornell College and the University of Iowa. She married Earl Palmer on June 30, 1934. They lived in Webb for 36 years. After he died in 1979, Frances moved to Marion. Frances was a homemaker and a member of Literary Club of Marion, Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution and First United Methodist Church in Marion. She enjoyed the Hawkeyes, the Chicago Cubs, reading and playing bridge. Memorials may be made in Frances' name to the Marion Public Library.
