Morton Lawrence Mulford, 78, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, in Banning, Calif., following a lengthy illness. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Graceland Park Cemetery Chapel. A luncheon will follow the service Saturday at Morningside Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Mulford was born July 3, 1927, a lifelong resident of Sioux City. He attended Morningside College following his graduation from East High School in 1945. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving two tours of duty, the last of which was the Korean War.
He married Ailene Marie Oxley of Corwith, Iowa, on Sept. 17, 1950, and together they had three sons. Ailene passed away Oct. 9, 1999. He then married Ruth Poe of Banning, Calif. Whether through racing them or selling them, he was an avid car buff most of his life. He was a member of the Landmark Lodge, Abu Bekr Shrine and Morningside Presbyterian Church in Sioux City.
He is survived by his devoted second wife, Ruth, and her children and grandchildren in California and Washington. Also surviving are Bruce and Cathy Mulford of Little Rock, Ark., Jim and Nancy Mulford of Fresno, Calif., and Brian Mulford of Sioux City; and his grandchildren, Mary, Kristie and Ben Mulford. He was preceded in death by his devoted first wife, Ailene; and his parents, P.M. and Harriet Mulford.
