Wayne E. Prior, 65, of Colorado Springs died Saturday at a local hospital. He had attained the rank of sergeant first class in the Army before retiring. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 325 Putnam Drive, Security, with Bishop Lee Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1001 S. Hancock Ave. Swan-Law Funeral Home, 501 N. Cascade Ave., is handling arrangements.

Mr. Prior was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Corwith, Iowa, to Walter E. and Alma (Elder) Prior. He served in the Army for 26 years and was a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Prior was a member of Disabled American Veterans, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was married to Elaine Rogers, who is deceased.

Mr. Prior is survived by a son, Walter E. of Pueblo; and a daughter, Kathy L. Bristol of Colorado Springs. His son Darrell L. and daughter Bonnie Prior Smith are deceased.
