April 3, 1874 -- October 2, 1951

Chris H. Danielsen, former Estherville Police Chief, died October 2, 1951 at 7:40 PM at Holy Family Hospital. He died of hardening of the liver after receiving medical treatment for 6 weeks and being hospitalized for 15 days. He was born April 3, 1874, in Langeland, Denmark. He came to America with his family at the age of 7 and attended the Franklin County public schools. He lived for several years near Dows, Iowa. They moved to Wallingford in 1905 and moved to Estherville in 1911. Chris worked as a store clerk, car repairman for the Rock Island Railroad, as a carpenter on various construction projects in big cities but on December 22, 1927 he joined the Estherville Police force. He remained with the police force for 22 years and was Police Chief for 2 years. He retired in October 1950. He became a member of the Christian Church in Estherville in 1912 and served as Elder, Deacon, Trustee and other leading positions in the church.
