The funeral for Iva A. Vitzthum, 89, of Pontiac, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chenoa, the Rev. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Pontiac. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Monday at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac. A prayer service will be at 2:45 p.m. Mrs. Vitzthum died at 12:17 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

She was born June 28, 1921, at Corwith, Iowa, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Wermersen) Harding. She married Louis Vincent Vitzthum Dec. 5, 1942, at Pontiac. He died Oct. 27, 1999. Surviving are two nieces, Dawn (Greg) Shaw, Oregon, Wis., and Tina Skeen, Bloomington; two nephews, Daniel (Pam) Harding, Seligman, Ariz., and Dean (Judy) Harding, Stoughton, Wis.; and 12 great-nieces and nephews: Matthew, Malissa, Mitchell, Andrea, Jeremy, Zachary, Sara, Hillary, Thomas, Tyler, Jahal and Cameron. Mrs. Vitzthum was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Donald and Dwaine Harding; and one niece, Debra Ghafil. She graduated from Pontiac Township High School. Mrs. Vitzthum was a homemaker and farmed for 42 years with her husband in the Pike Township area. She was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Chenoa. Mrs. Vitzthum was a member of the Home Extension in Pontiac, Pontiac Woman's Club, Altar and Rosary Society of St. Joseph's Church in Chenoa and the Emerald Club of Pontiac. The family suggests memorials may be made to St. Josephs Catholic Church organ fund.
