A.J. KAHL AGE 76 DIES

Funeral Services for Local Man to Be at Methodist Church

WAS WIDELY KNOWN

A.J. Kahl, 76, died last evening at 7:45 o'clock at his home, 933 Elm street, [Webster City, Iowa] death being caused by a cerebral hemorrhage. He had been ill the past five weeks. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church with the Rev. J. J. Share officiating. There will be a brief service for the family, preceding the church service, at the McCauley-Chapman funeral home. Burial will be made in Graceland cemetery.

The Family

Mr. Kahl is survived by his wife and five children: David of Fosston, Minn; Mrs. Robert White of Vulcan, Alberta Canada; Mrs. Clarence Stone, of this city; Miss Bertha, at home, and Charles, also of this city. There are also nine grandchildren and two brothers, Newton of Seymour, Mo., and Joseph, at Jewell.

Mr. Kahl was born at Center county, Pennsylvania, Aug. 22, 1860. He left there when a boy with his parents, moving to Freeport, Ill. He grew to young manhood there and in 1879 he came to Iowa, locating on a farm in Wright county. Oct. 3, 1883 he was married to Miss Annie Ley at the bride's home, near Woolstock. They went to housekeeping on a farm near Blairsburg where they lived until 1908 when they moved to a farm near Kendall Young park.

Moved Here in 1920

They lived there until 1920 when Mr. Kahl retired from active farming and moved to Webster City. They bought their home at 933 Elm street, where they had since lived. Mr. Kahl was a member of the Methodist church and had many friends who will read of his death with regret. He was a jolly Pennsylvania-Dutch farmer, who made friends easily and who was popular with his neighbors in the communities in which he lived.
