September 18, 1918 -- February 4, 2004

Marjorie B. Norcross, 85, died Wednesday, February 4 (2004), in the Trinity Regional Hospital at Fort Dodge. For the past six years she had been a resident of the North Care Center at Humboldt. Funeral service for her was held in the Zion Lutheran Church at LuVerne at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Burial was in the LuVerne Cemetery, the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral home of LuVerne in charge of arrangements. Honorary bearers were Harold Schipull, Earl Hanselman, Jack Guy, Donald Kruse, Henry Hefty and Stan Genrich. Casket bearers were Harold Nielson, Jr., Gerald Larson, Dave Hanselman, Terry Warmbier, Rick Pederson and Randy Thompson.

Marjorie Beth Mickelson, daughter of Samuel and Nettie Olson Mickelson, was born September 18, 1918, on a farm south of Duncombe, IA. She graduated from the Woolstock High School at Woolstock, IA in 1936. Marj married her high school classmate, Joseph Richard Norcross, on January 23, 1939 at Woolstock. In 1940 they moved to farm east and south of LuVerne. In 1955, Marj and Joe moved into LuVerne where they were employed at the Hamilton Hatchery. Marj started to work at the Corner Store in LuVerne in July of 1963. Joe Norcross died November 16, 1974. Marj was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She enjoyed watching sports, especially all local sports and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also liked to play golf.

Marj is survived by her children, Gary and Merle Norcross, Nevada, MO and Marlene Lambertsen, Iowa Falls. She has three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A brother and sister also survive, Richard and Jackie Mickelson, California and Doris Greenwood of Belmond. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Jerry in 1941 and Robert, 1989; a daughter, Joanna "Corky" Packard, 2002; a granddaughter, Tanya Packard; a great-granddaughter, Samantha Norcross; brother, Clarence Mickelson and three sisters, Esther Larson, Ruth Baker and Bonnie Sharp.
