VINCENT, IA - Maurice M. Flattery, 88, of Vincent, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August, 15, 2010, at Trinity Regional Medical Center; surrounded by his wife and loving family. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church with his nephew, the Rev. Gregory Kelly, of Dallas, TX, officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, where there will be a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary all at the funeral home.

Maurice is survived by Denise, his wife of 63 years; his daughter, Mary (Jim) Greteman of Carroll; his sons, Michael (Jeanie) of West Des Moines, Joe (Teresa) of Lincoln, NE, Terry (Jean), Dan (Roxie), Dave (Debbie) all of Fort Dodge; 26 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna (Kelley) Flattery; 2 infant sons; sisters, Dorothy Kendrigan, Ruth Micus, Rose Wells, Marian Heller; and twin sister, Maureen Anderson; brothers, Robert, Richard, and Edward.

Maurice Michael Flattery was born on May 23, 1922, in Industry, IA. He graduated from Sacred Heart School High School, Fort Dodge in 1940. He then attended Tobin Business College. On April 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Denise Kelly at St. Joseph's Church, Duncombe, IA. The couple made their home near Vincent, where he farmed his entire life. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Knight of Columbus Council 613, and the Vincent Lions Club. Maurice was a former long term Director of St. John's Catholic Church of Vincent, Board Member of St. Edmond High School Board of Education, and was a Little League Baseball Coach. He was an avid sports fan of the St. Edmond Gaels. Maurice will be remembered for his unique and disarming sense of humor; and his commitment to his faith and his family. Memorials may be left to the St. Edmond Catholic Schools.
