SERVICES TODAY FOR MRS. E. JUNE HAYS

Mrs. E. June Hays, 74, of Grinnell, died in a Belmond nursing home Feb. 13, [1958] after an illness of several years. Services were at 1 p.m. today (Feb. 17) at Smith Funeral Home. She was born June 3, 1883, to William T. and Mary Anthony Haynes in Sheridan township. Reared in a family of 11 children, she attended rural schools. She was united in marriage to Frank R. Hays in 1903, and to this union were born six children: William Royce Hays of Dayton, O.; Mrs. Maye L. Armentrout of Dayton; Mrs. Yuille (Edna) Mattingly of Grinnell; Rey Hays of Colorado Springs; Mrs. J.R. (Betty) Gallagher of Belmond, and Ronald V. Hays of Des Moines. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, three sisters and a brother, Mrs. Frank Wright of Ottosen, Ellis Haynes of California, Mrs. William Oltrogge of Grinnell and Mrs. William Schroeder of Tama.

Mrs. Hays was a member of the Methodist church and for several years worked at the Grinnell college president's home. Officiating at services today was the Rev. William Schorman, of the Belmond Congregational church. Music was by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Pallbearers were George M. Brown, Allen Meyer, Clifton Meyer, Wesley Meyer, Murl Oltrogge and Merle Dimit. Burial was in Sheridan Township cemetery.
