Bryan Loveless Dupree, the son of Glenn and Aline (Overall) Dupree, was born September 13, 1919, in Plano, Texas. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Plano High School in 1937 and began working in an office supply store. In 1941, Bryan joined the United States Army Air Corps, attaining the grade of Captain before his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1942, Bryan married Ethyl Evelyn Jordan and in 1947, their son Bob was born. Bryan and Evie moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1948, where they owned and operated an office supply store for many years. Bryan then worked for Mumford Realty and eventually became the owner of Dupree Realty. Evie preceded him in death. In 1976, Bryan married Geraldine (Gerri) Forrester and the couple continued to make their home in Hobbs, before moving to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 2004. Bryan was a very community-minded person – being honored in 1959 as Hobbs’ Outstanding Citizen for his community work. He served as a long-time member of the Lions Club and worked tirelessly for the United Fund, the Hobbs Chamber of Commerce and was also credited with securing a professional baseball franchise for Hobbs. Bryan served as an elder in the Hobbs Presbyterian Church. Bryan was a fan of jazz music and over the years, acquired one of the largest jazz record collections in the United States. In 1970, he donated a large portion of his collection to North Texas State University.

Bryan passed away on Monday, August 9, 2010, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 90 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son and a sister, Doris (Bill) Fargo. Survivors include his wife, Gerri Dupree of Eagle Grove, IA; a granddaughter, Rebecca Dupree of Portland, OR; step children: Reba (Dr. Michael) Moffitt of Eagle Grove, IA and Dode (Chris) Forrester of Battleground, WA; five step grandchildren; eight step great-grandchildren and a sister, Beth (Jack) Gragg of Palestine, TX.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor John Nett officiating. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
