Services Held For Former Dike Policeman

Herbert R. Boomer, 51, of 509 W. 20th St., Cedar Falls, died at his home Sunday morning, Dec. 19, 1982, following a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Janesville with Rev. Philip L. Clinton officiating. Burial was in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, Cedar Falls.

He was born on Nov. 4, 1931, in Waverly, the son of Donald and Mildred Ginther Boomer. He attended school in Janesville, Cedar Falls, and Belmond, IA. Herb then moved to Dike, where he was city policeman for many years. In 1966 he opened the Herb Boomer Auto Sales on 18th St. in Cedar Falls. In 1971 he bought into partnership with Roger Alberts in Autoville, located in North Cedar. Due to ill health, Herb retired in June, 1981.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mildred R. Boomer of 2122 Hickory Lane, Cedar Falls; his sister, (Margaret), Mrs. Ernest Iverson of 5133 W. Mt. Vernon Rd., Cedar Falls; two nieces, (Pat), Mrs. Neal Schrage of Bettendorf, Kerri Iverson of Cedar Falls; and one great-niece, Lori Schrage. He was preceded in death by his father on December 26, 1969.
