November 23, 1922 -- July 3, 1998

BELMOND, IA — Philip Martin Dominy, 75, died Friday (July 3, 1998) at the Baum-Harmon Memorial Hospital, Pringhar. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Wayne Droessler officiating. Interment will take place in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home, Belmond, with a parish wake service beginning at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to church services Tuesday.

Philip, the son of Francis C. and Jessie A. Lowenberg Dominy, was born Nov. 23, 1922, near Goodell. He grew up in the Goodell area, attending school in Goodell, Belmond and Garner. Philip lived in various towns in north central Iowa before entering the Wideview Health Care Center in Paullina in 1975. He was active in the nursing home, putting the flag up and filling the bird feeders. He loved puzzles, roller-skating, dancing and music. He had a wonderful voice and loved to whistle. As a young man Philip enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing baseball. As a hobby, he sketched and painted with watercolors.

Philip is survived by two sisters, Lynna Smith of Belmond and Marilyn Kral and her husband, Robert, of Garner; three nieces, Sandy Anderson and her husband, Terry, of Belmond, Judy Webb and her husband, Mike, of Warren Robbins, Ga., and Linda Kral of Ames; three nephews, Lee Smith and his wife, Diane, of Buena Vista, Colo., Steven Kral of Garner, and Tom Kral of Garner; seven great-nieces and nephews; and fifteen great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers-in-law.
