April 22, 1982 -- July 29, 1998

LATIMER, IA — Tanner J. Pals, of Latimer, died Wednesday (July 29, 1998) from injuries incurred from a motorcycle accident at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington, at the age of 16. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1998, at the CAL High School gymnasium in Latimer, with the Rev. Michael Ploeger, from the Zion Reformed Church of Sheffield, officiating. Burial will be in the Zion Reformed Cemetery, Sheffield. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at the Willim Funeral Home in Latimer.

Tanner Jurgens Pals was born April 22, 1982, at the Belmond Community Hospital in Belmond, Iowa. He would have been a junior at CAL Community Schools. He was active in football, basketball, baseball, golf, music and speech. He was also an active member of the Zion Reformed RCYF and choir. He was a Globe-Gazette carrier for four years. Tanner had many friends and loved spending time with family. He also loved golfing and spending time playing other sports.

He is survived by his mother, Sonna, and husband, Dick McMahon, of Latimer; his father, Jeffrey Pals, and wife, Mary, of Hawarden; one brother, Tjaden, of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Arika, of Latimer; one stepsister, Jessica Harvey, of Iowa City; one stepbrother, Jonathan Harvey, of Waterloo; and grandfathers William Jurgens, of Latimer, and Leslie Pals and his wife, Maureen, of Mason City. His grandmothers, Audrey Jurgens and Norma Pals, preceded him in death.
