WILLIAMS - Oscar H. Hames, 92, of Williams died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City. Services were held Tuesday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams with burial in the church cemetery. Father John R. Flaherty officiated. Oscar was born Feb. 27, 1911, in Dubuque to Andrew and Catherine Liefker Hames. He graduated from Williams High School in 1929 and Loras College in Dubuque. He served in the Army-Air Force from 1942 - 45 in World War II. He never married and was employed by Swift and Co. for 41 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Williams and the Williams American Legion Post No.633. He is survived by a special friend Ardath Fowler of Webster City; a brother Urban Hames of Williams; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Odelia Murphy; and five brothers, Ben, Fred, Walter, Frances and Melvin Hames. Surls Funeral Home of Williams was in charge of arrangements.
