MASON CITY — Marvin A. Lauen, 84, of 124 S. Hampshire Place, died Oct. 29, 1998, at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 213 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Nils "Chris" Hellevik officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the Trinity Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer’s Association, Cancer Research or Trinity Lutheran Church in his memory. Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., is in charge of arrangements.
Marvin was born April 15, 1914 in Goodell, Iowa, the son of Bert and Anna (Minderts) Lauen. Marvin married Norma Hetlund on Dec. 27, 1945. Marvin served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was involved in the Normandy Invasion. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Norma, of Mason City; a sister, Marie Lauen, of Belmond; a brother, Harry Lauen and his wife, Lois, of St. Paul, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jeanette.
