Daisy Leona Grady Campbell passed away on July 14, 2002, in Helena after a short illness. Daisy was born in Boxholm, Iowa, on Sept. 12, 1907, to Theodore and Rose Morrison Grady and attended schools in South Dakota and Iowa, graduating from high school in Woolstock, Iowa, in 1926. After graduation, Daisy attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa, and worked for Bankers Life Insurance Company until she was joined in marriage with William (Bill) Campbell in June 1931. Daisy and Bill lived in several states, including Iowa and Kansas, as Bill progressed in his career with IBM. They eventually settled in St. Paul, Minn., where Bill preceded her in death in 1979.

Daisy and Bill were blessed with the birth of their only child, Judith Ann, in 1938. Judy was a constant source of joy and comfort to them and they enjoyed their many trips to Montana to visit their daughter and her family after Judy’s marriage to Tom McHugh in 1961. In 1996, Daisy moved to Helena to be closer to her daughter and son-in-law, Loren Davis, and to her grandchildren. She enjoyed living in the Vista Square apartment complex and became good friends with many of the other residents. Daisy was a member of the Wheelock Parkway United Methodist Church while residing in St. Paul and enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, golfing and corresponding with her many friends. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Daisy is survived by her grandsons, Scott (Shona) McHugh and children, Alex and Tori, of Helena, and Mark (Lisa) McHugh and children, Ryan and Kelsey, of Boise, Idaho; as well as her son-in-law, Loren Davis, of Helena. She is also survived by her sister, Violette Bateman, of Lakewood, Colo., and several nieces and nephews including Diane (Larry) Huerta of Lakewood, Dick (Jean) Bateman of Frederick, Colo., Janene (Dr. Larry) Smith of Escondido, Calif., and Joyce (Dr. Kent) Boughn of Sun Lakes, Ariz., formerly of Helena. Daisy was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Judy Davis, son-in-law Tom McHugh, sister Pansy Anama of Sioux City, Iowa, and brother Loren Grady of Webster City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 22, at 3 p.m. at Retz Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and interment services will occur in Webster City, Iowa, at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of St. Peter’s, 2475 E. Broadway, Helena, MT 59601.
