22 November 1878 -- 19 March 1974

Helma Cecilia Johnson, 95, of Klemme passed away Tuesday morning, March 19, 1974 at the Belmond Community Hospital. Helma Johnson was born November 22, 1878, at Stavens Nottja, Sweden, the second in a family of ten children born to her parents Johan and Ingrid Arvidson. She attended schools in Sweden and became a member of the Swedish Lutheran Church at Nottja by Confirmation. Mrs. Johnson came to this country and Morris, Illinois at the age of twenty. She was married to John A. Johnson on March 21, 1900 at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They came to Klemme in 1902 and this has been her home until her death. Mr. Johnson passed away in 1945. They were blessed with six children, five of whom survive. She had been in failing health for the last few years. Her death came March 19, 1974 at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 27 days. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband in 1945, an infant son in 1901, one sister and five brothers. She leaves to mourn her passing her five children, Harold, Bertha and Mrs. Graydon (Doris) Back of Klemme; Mrs. Don (Ruth) Carson of Parkersburg, Iowa and Mrs. T. W. (Ethel) Steffen of Waterloo, Iowa; seven grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers in Sweden.

Funeral services were held March 22, 1974 at the United Methodist Church in Klemme, Iowa. Rev. Donald Campbell officiated the service. Mrs. Robert Schulz was the organist and Mrs. Roy Arnold and Mrs. Russell Thorson were the singers. Pallbearers were James Steffen, Roger Johnson, Joseph Ott, Steven Ott, Larry Evans and Michael Evans. Interment was in the Klemme Cemetery, Klemme, Iowa.
