Stella M. Beiber, 91, a resident of Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008, at the care center following a brief illness. Service of Remembrance: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by the Rev. Julie Anderson Schuett. Per Stella's wishes, there will be no visitation. The family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place before the service at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Jerry (Doris) Murray of LeClaire, Janet Murray Blasingame of Cedar Rapids, Thomas (Kathy) Murray of Iowa City and Mary Jo (Brian) Hamrick of Springville; and a brother-in-law, Chet Renner of Clear Lake. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle; her parents; and her sister, Elsie (Murray) Renner.

Stella was born March 25, 1917, the daughter of George and Erma (Born) Thiemann, on a farmstead in Klemme . She attended country schools in Ell Township. On Oct. 12, 1947, she married B. Earle Beiber in Iowa City. He died March 29, 1965. Stella owned and operated The Charm Beauty Shop for 47 years, retiring in 1992. Stella was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Marion, where she had been a deacon, a 50-year member of Eastern Star and a past member of the American Business Woman's Association. She volunteered at The Helping Hand Store in Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church in Marion in Stella's memory.
