Fort Dodge Messenger, IowaANKENY, Iowa - Anna H. Trotter, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Mill Pond Retirement Community in Ankeny, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, Iowa with burial following at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church starting at 10 AM until service time.
Anna Ogland was born August 27, 1921, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Edwin and Nellie Dueland Ogland. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1938 at the age of 16. Anna attended junior college where she studied business and office skills. During this time she worked at the hotel and at Graham's womens' apparel store in Eagle Grove. Anna was united in marriage with Bernard L. Trotter on September 19, 1942, at the Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Anna and Bernard farmed together in the Eagle Grove area for 24 years. They then moved to Urbandale, Iowa in 1966 where they managed the Urban Green Apartment complex for 28 years, retiring in 1994 at the age of 72. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2002. Anna enjoyed her participation in many events, clubs, and committee work with first, the Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, and later, when she married, the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Interests included spending time with her family, music, poetry, and playing the piano. She was an avid fan of many sports, but especially the Chicago Cubs and the Hawkeyes' football and basketball teams.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two children, Terry and wife, Marvel of Somers and William of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Rhett Trotter and friend, Jenn Pogue and her children, Trevor, Michael, and MacKenzie of Fridley, MN and Mindy (John) Brinker of Goodyear, AZ; four great-grandchildren, Zoe, Gracie, Colton and Ella Brinker; two sisters, Mildred (Pete) Knight of Clarion and Helen (Tom) Russell of Twin Lakes, WI; two sisters-in-law, Sue Ogland of Indianola and Bette (Jerry) Christensen of Goldfield and several nieces and nephews. Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; her parents; her brother, Ervin and sister-in-law, Lucille (Delmar) Duitscher.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM, Monday, July 19, 2010 at Iles Funeral Homes Westover Chapel in Des Moines. The Trotter family wants to thank all of the staff at Mill Pond and Hospice of Central Iowa for their wonderful care and support. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
