ROCKWELL, IA -- Melbourne "Mel" J. Trampel, 59, of 11322 Killdeer, Rockwell, died Tuesday (Sept. 5, 1995) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 N. Delaware Ave., Mason City, with the Rev. Frederick J. Wood officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hogan-Bremer Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. The family suggests memorials to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in his memory.

Mel was born May 5, 1936, in Klemme, the son of John P. Trampel and Minnie Trampel (nee) Beek. He was baptized in the Immanuel Reformed Church, Klemme, and confirmed in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City. Mel graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1955. Mel married Carol J. Kinne on Feb. 23, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Algona. They lived on a farm near Rockwell for 13 years. While farming, he also drove a milk truck for State Brand Creamery, Mason City. In April of 1972 they moved to Fertile. Mel went to work at Winnebago Industries on the production assembly line where he has continued to work. They later moved to rural Clear Lake, Swaledale and then in October of 1985 moved back to the family farm in rural Rockwell. Mel loved wood working, working on the family farm, the animals on the farm and most of all, he loved his grandchildren. He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mason City.

Mel is survived by his wife, Carol Trampel of Rockwell; three children, Debra Cunningham and her husband, Tom of Forest City; Dan Trampel of Rockwell; and Darla Reed and her husband, Jim, of Dougherty; two brothers, Ronald Trampel and his wife, Kay, of Clear Lake, and Merlyn Trampel and his wife, Nylene, of Rockwell; five grandchildren, Nickolas Cunningham, Jacob Cunningham, Joshua Cunningham, Matthew Reed and Larry Trampel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and in-laws, Henry O.E. and Lydia Kinne.
