Mason City – Marvin “Speed” Wade, 80, of 644 So. Taylor Ave., died Wednesday, June 7, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center of North Iowa, Mason City, IA. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 10, 2006 at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel 126 3rd St. NE with Reverend Thomas Healey officiating. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2006 from 5-7 P.M. at Hogan-Bremer- Moore Colonial Chapel. Military rites will be provided by the Clear Lake VFW Honor Guard. Burial will be in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Marvin Kenneth Wade was born on December 20, 1925 in Klemme, IA to Arthur and Jeanette Ulrich Wade. He attended school at Klemme. Later he enlisted in the US Navy serving his country during WWII. After his honorable discharge from the Navy on March 21, 1946 Marvin moved to Mason City. Marvin was united in marriage to Marilyn Elaine Garlock on November 22, 1946 in Clear Lake. They later made their home in Mason City where Marvin was employed by Lehigh Portland Cement until he retired in 1988. Marvin and Marilyn enjoyed traveling to Mission, TX where they stayed during the winter months. Marvin was a lifetime member of the Mason City American Legion and the Clear Lake VFW. He was the past president of Boilermakers Cement Division Union #106, and was active in the ABATE Motorcycle Club. Marvin enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener, and he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Marvin is survived by one grandson, several brothers in law and sisters in law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn Elaine and son Ernest. Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel.
