Mary Clayton, 83, Hudson, Wis., formerly of Beltrami, died Sunday, April 13, 1997, in Hudson Medical Center Hospital. Mary Sampson was born Aug. 8, 1913, the daughter of Clarence and Flora (Lee) Sampson, in Klemme, Iowa. She attended school in Beltrami. She married Frank Clayton Nov. 27, 1936, in Crookston. She was head cook at Ada (Minn.) Municipal Hospital. Frank Clayton died in 1991. She is survived by sons, Lee (Barbara) and Kim (Ellen), both of Madison, Wis., Lynn, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Keith (Deborah), Afton, Minn.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Otis Steffen, Crookston; and a sister, Bernice Ranz, Crookston. She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday in Wesley United Methodist Church, Crookston. Visitation: 9 a.m. until time of services in the church. Memorials are suggested to flood victims of Ada. Burial: Ada Municipal Cemetery.
