Paul Dean Hopp, 63, of Earlham, Iowa died Oct. 16, 2002. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. John's Catholic Church, Adel, with Father Al Sherbo officiating. Burial was at Glenwood Cemetery with Father Paul Monahan officiating.

Paul Hopp was born Feb. 1, 1939, to Ferdinand Hans and Anna (Fisher) Hopp of Malvern. A 1957 graduate of Glenwood High School, he was a 1961 graduate of Iowa State University in Ames where he received a bachelor's degree in education. He received his master's degree from ISU and had completed hours toward his doctorate. On Aug. 27, 1960, he married Janet Kathryn Rhody in Glenwood. Paul had taught in Walnut, Malvern and Tabor. He also had been an assistant principal in Tabor. He had worked at the I.S.U. Extension office in Malvern as a youth leader. In 1973, he accepted his first superintendency in Klemme. In 1976, he moved to Earlham in the position of superintendent, retiring in 1996.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He is survived by his wife, Janet, of Earlham; a son, David Hopp (wife Lisa) of Earlham; a daughter, Kathryn Beamer of Earlham; three sisters, Dorothy Stouder (husband Everett) of Randolph, Marjorie Haynie (husband Cletis) of Malvern and Phyllis Stouder (husband Floyd) of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, John Hopp (wife Le) of Plattsmouth, Neb.; and six grandsons.
