Evelyn F. Stites, 85, Clear Lake, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake. A funeral service was held Friday, March 18, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake, with Lay Assistant Richard Scott officiating. Interment was held at the Clear Lake Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Evelyn F. Stites Memorial Fund. Evelyn was born Feb. 8, 1920 in Rural Klemme, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Mollie (Heginger) Price. She attended school in Klemme and Clear Lake. Evelyn married Kenneth Stites on March 7, 1938 in Davenport, Iowa and then moved to Clear Lake. Evelyn loved flower gardening, spending time at the summer cabin in Richville, Minn. and shopping. She was a lifetime and active member of the VFW Post Auxiliary in Clear Lake. Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Karen Smith and her husband, Ron, Belmond, Iowa and Jodie Huff and her husband, Mike, Algona, Iowa; a brother, Bud Price, Mason City; a sister, Leona Torkelson, Mason City; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, K.C. Stites; her parents; a daughter, Lois Draeger; and a brother, Bill Price. Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
