Matthew Aaron Terrill, 13, of Oak Harbor, WA died suddenly April 21, 2003 at his home. A private graveside service was held April 25 followed by a public memorial service at Matthew's school. Matthew was born May 2, 1989 in Coupeville, WA and lived his entire live in Oak Harbor. He was in the 8th grade at Oak Harbor Middle School. He enjoyed sports, especially basketball and soccer; computer games, and science fiction and fantasy books. He was excited about music and wanted to learn drums and guitar. He was in the process of writing a book about D-Day. He had spoken about being a history teacher or computer programmer.

He was preceded in death by two great-grandfathers, Walter Boyd of Belmond and Lawrence Hays. Survivors include his father and stepmother, Rick and Kelli Terrill; his mother and step-father, Maryanne Rassel and Marc Gilbert; brothers Joshua Terrill, Jacob Hummel and Kyle Gilbert; grandparents David and Peg Boyd Fosnaugh, Dan and Ruth Terrill, Rodolfo and Gloria Fontecha; great grandparents Jim and Ruth Fosnaugh of Klemme, Beverly Boyd of Belmond, Ruth Hays, and Harris and Marie Alford.
