Pearl Caroline Vestweber, 88, died Thursday, July 13, 2000 at the Muse Norris Hospiece Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Funeral services were held Monday, July 17, 2000, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thornton with Rev. Robert Hetrick officiating. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery near Thornton. Casket bearers were Willard Krabbe, Chris Nelson, Scott Vestweber, David Vestweber, Jr., Todd Lauen and Todd Gruis.

Pearl Caroline LaRue was born August 18, 1911, in South Dakota to Samuel and Anna (Oleson) LaRue. She moved with her family at a young age to Dows where she graduated from high school in 1930. On February 17, 1932, Pearl was united in marriage to Henry Louis Vestweber in Belmond. The couple farmed in the north Iowa area, farming from 1942 to 1967 near Thornton, when they moved to Thornton. Henry died in 1982 and Pearl continued living in the home until her death.

Preceding her in death were her parents her husband, Henry; her sister, Violet; and an infant daughter, Gail. Survivors are her son, Lael Vestweber of Thornton; son and daughter-in-law, David and Sharon Vestweber of Clear Lake; daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Dean Lauen of Clear Lake; six grandchildren, David Vestweber, Jr., Dianna Nelson, Scott Vestweber, Shari Vestweber, Todd Lauen and Anne Lauen; six great grandchildren, Joshua and James Vestweber, Andrew, Nicholas, Madelynn and Benjamin Nelson, and a brother, Dale LaRue of Richland Center, WI.
