Jessie Eleanor Wilkans, 92, of Clinton, formerly of Alexander, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and Michael Winslow in Clinton. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be in Alexander Cemetery.

Jessie Eleanor Wallace was born on July 1, 1908, to John E. and Mae I. (Danforth) Wallace in Oacoma, SD. She was a graduate of Belmond High School, and she attended the University of Northern Iowa (formerly known as the Normal Teachers' School) in Cedar Falls. She was employed for several years at the Alexander Public School in Alexander as a mathematics instructor. She was a member of the Open Bible Fellowship Church in Morrison, IL. She was a member of the United Church of Christ - Rowan Congregation in Rowan; was a member of D.A.R. (Daughters of American Republic), of the Alexander Cemetery Society, and the Congregational Church Women Fellowship and quilting groups. In 1991 Jessie moved to the Clinton area. She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother; one sister and three nephews. Survivors are three daughters: Naomi Carole (Mrs. Michael) Winslow of Clinton, who she lived with, Eleanor Joy (Mrs. Oliver) Olson of Port Orange, FL, and Diann Cynthia (Mrs. Earl) Fortson of Barnesville, GA; three grandchildren Sarah (Mrs. Lauren) Bush of Morrison, IL, Jason Winslow of Colorado Springs, CO, and Joy Fortson of Barnesville, GA; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
